How many of us are guilty of living in the past? Unknowingly, we love to be in that cocoon which is no longer ours. Many of us have a big box somewhere hidden in our cupboard that embodies a lot of the lost past, whether those of our school times, college times, courting times or the early days of marriage. Last night was terrible for me. After a bout of tummy upsets, I was literally shivering, in such a way that a thick sweater, socks and a double blanket did nothing much to settle me down. As usual, I craved for umma to be with me, like we all do, and suddenly, my mind went into our past. As my life has taught me, I pushed myself from my thoughts and then went off to a deep sleep, much to the excitement of the kids, for whom that is a signal of uninterrupted TV time. An hour and a half later, I woke up and made myself a strong cup of masala chai and started nagging them to go off to sleep. Today morning, I sent the kids off to school and stole an additional hour and a half of sleep. Once I freshened and fixed up “bread-butter-jam” along with a cup of dark coffee for HD and me, I longingly told him how I wished he would have been there to make me a cup of tea last night. With his mouth stuffed with bread, he asked, “Why didn’t you call me?” It was like a jolt to me, I was not expecting him to be so caring! 😉 And then he continued, “I would have arranged a chai parcel to be delivered to you.”, and then followed it up with a deep throttle of laughter. Hah, I was expecting that response so I just smiled. 🙂 As I drove to office, I thanked Allah profusely, Alhamdulillah… How much lessons of life can teach you to take a day as a day! Makes life much better and easier too, Alhamdulillah… 🙂
Adding one more to the kale madness, this time a smoothie with avocado included, so it makes it a totally green smoothie! Like I was saying, I don’t know why I am not able to find kale nowadays though I look for it in the shelves… Kind of miss this ingredient… 🙁 Hope to find some soon, InShaAllah, meanwhile hoping off to the simple recipe…

Hello Rafeeda,
Its only in moments of longing and craving for warmth that we so deeply delve into our past. The moneys which touched us and left us nourished. Otherwise we live a 4 frames per second life into todays digitised love. I think the link to the past is good when balanced.
Oh, the Kale craze is yet to catch upon me no wonder once I get it I will be on a sprawl.
Keep up the good work and do it for your own satisfaction first and then for others.
Best Regards,
Roy
Thank you so much for that deep advice, Roy… Sincerely appreciate! 🙂 Not that I love kale, but it is a good change in a while…
nice way of getting all the healthy ingredients into the tummy.
Thank you so much Mayuri…
Rafeeda this recipe looks tempting .. Its a great healthy tasty smoothie…
Thank you so much Priya…
Rafeeda , please dont fret over the past !!! I read about your incident with tummy upset. I had a phase after my daughter’s birth when nothing suited me . I had to be careful with Gram flour, Potatoes and what not. Coz I would land up into a similar situation as u have mentioned above coupled with acute tummy ache for a couple of hours . Even now., I panic.. after eating my fav Potatoes:)
Anyways.. The Kale bug has not caught me yet. One I get to it , it will be hard to let go 🙂 This smoothie sounds like a perfect detox.. I am working on a set of smoothie recipes this week..
I have stopped fretting over the past, but at times it just peaks in when you don’t need to come. Thank you so much Sandhya… 🙂
i think sickness is there everywhere ,i too hunt for umma’s warmth when sick:)

Thank you so much Hiba… 🙂
