During this Ramadan, I discovered this sister’s FB page. I must say that after sister Yasmin Mogahed, she is slowly becoming my favorite. After having lost her husband tragically at the helm of their beautiful life together, she has managed to channel her pain into finding solace with the Almighty. Do read through her page through some soulful insights. Nobody in this world is guaranteed a life without pain and many of her writings gives you a lot of positivity and hope. I sincerely pray that this sister overcomes her pain and Allah provide her what is due for her. This one comparing the fasting of Ramadan and the tragedies of life was just so apt… InShaAllah, planning at getting her book soon…
I must confess that after starting my vegan diet, the other thing I miss terribly after tea are lassis. You just need to put lassi and you will find quite a lot of them on the blog – that is how much mad I am about them. I love making different combinations and even though the family has a love-hate relationship with it, I still make them and serve them, and then very shamelessly, will gulp down all the leftovers all by myself. 😉 Rose syrup is something that every household keeps a bottle of it for emergencies during Ramadan. It helps you make an easy milk shake when you run out of ideas of what to blitz for Iftar. This is just another way of using up the rose syrup. Just like all lassis, I love this simple lassi too, especially when I have no fruits to blitz but still I want a lassi! 😀 Off to this simple recipe…
- ½ cup yogurt
- ½ cup water
- 3 tbsp rose syrup
- A pinch cardamom
- Ice cubes and slivered pistachio to serve
- Whisk all the ingredients till smooth.
- Serve immediately with ice cubes and some slivers of pistachio.
