This drink gives me a lot of nostalgia. I remember having said it in one of the posts recently that HD is really fond of naaranga soda. The first time we went home after our marriage, it was peak of summer and since we weren’t used to the climate, we used to get tired immensely in between all the relative visits and walking. Even though I used to crave to have some exotic juices (read avocado or chickoo) or atleast a karimbu juice, he would always settle for this. He would tell me, it is cheap and best. 😀 And yes, it is! In front of your eyes, the “kadakkaaran” (shop keeper) would squeeze lime into the glass, add in sugar or salt as per preference, or both like I have mine, and then pour cold soda over it till the glass brims and sometimes some spill out too. One quick stir and then we would relish it. The cold soda in the heat is very refreshing. Initially, I used to hate it and keep glum faces but now whenever I see a board hanging out of shops saying “Naaranga Soda”, I would be the first one to say, “I want”! Hehe… How life changes… 😉
As I excitedly pack my bags to go home tomorrow afternoon, InShaAllah, I am scheduling a few posts and leaving you, so that I don’t feel my blog baby is deserted. Talk about heights of addiction! 😕 😀 You will see posts popping up on Mondays and Thursday till month end. If you do see any intermittent posts in between, that means I have some free time and I hopped in to blog, but considering the irritating speed of net back home, it seems really unlikely! 😉 Hoping that I will get back to regular blogging in September, InShaAllah… I sincerely hope I don’t get lazy enough. I have not experienced it previously when I went on vacation, but you know we as humans, have our mood swings, so we can’t depend on how we were before. Hehe… 😀 Do keep coming by and gracing this space, as you have all done before… In case you do try any of the recipes on the blog, do email me the picture on [email protected]. Alternatively you can post it on our FB page or even tag me on my Instagram account in case you wish to post there! Will hopefully stay in touch… 🙂
