A simple spinach soup, apt for cold chilly nights…
It is the last day of the month and usually I post a recipe related to the Shh Cooking Secretly Challenge, if I am participating. I have been a part of this group for a long time and I look forward to the challenges being shared every month, and participate as much as I can, depending on my situation. This month, Prithi suggested to cook with winter vegetables and my partner is Jayasree. I have been reading her blog for some time for challenges and otherwise and love the collection of simple vegetarian recipes she shares. She gave me the secret ingredients of milk and cumin. Initially I was a little hesitant, because this combination is quite odd, but I decided to take it as a challenge and use it.
I always pick up spinach and try to cook with it as much as possible, even though the girls are not very fond. Most of the time, it becomes this palak paneer or gets sauteed into while I make some chana pulao. Since spinach is a winter vegetable, I decided to use it to make soup but was a little hesitant to use milk till I saw this recipe. I didn’t stick to the recipe per say, but the end result was such a delicious soup that I ended up drinking two full cups of it. The recipe is really easy – a little bit of sauteing, and then all ingredients are just put into the cooker and gets done. The soup is then blended till smooth and immediately served. With the simple ingredients used, it is a breeze to make. You can easily double it up and freeze some for those quick fix meals as well! Meanwhile, do check out what Jayasree has made with the ingredients I gave her…

Spinach Soup is one of my most favourite types of soup. Love the way yours looks – super flavourful and inviting. The addition of cumin is very interesting. 🙂
A delicious and a healthy soup any day. I like the addition of milk instead of cream. Perfect for a cold day.
So healthy and warm spinach soup. It looks so flavorful and delicious. Perfect to enjoy during Winter. Would love some bread croutons on the side to enjoy.
Hot Palak Soup on a cold day in winters is always welcome. Adding milk sounds great instead of cream. The soup looks inviting.
oooo yum. A winter night with a warm bowl of spinach soup is just perfect.
Palak and tomato soups are on our tables very often during Winter months. Loved the way your soup looks. I add Little carrot also along with potato to make the soup thick and flavorful.
this soup is a constant fixture in our homes, and the wintery chill is the perfect excuse to indulge in one…
I love creamy spinach or palak soup, but don’t make it often enough as hubby doesn’t like spinach soup. He rather enjoy it as a sabji. Adding turmeric to make a soup an immunity booster is a wonderful idea.
Perfect weather here is for such comforting soups.. Palak soup with fresh seasonal bunch always tastes amazing and is so nutritious.. loved this creamy soup with no cream
Spinach soup looks so welcoming and perfect for cold winters. Such a healthy and filling soup.
Interesting Rafeeda. I like the addition of potato here, which will give some body to the soup as well as make it a filling meal with palak. Healthy too.
Palak soup is tasty and healthy. Looks delicious Rafeeda. I like it but more often it is side dish made with spinach as children prefer it.
Turmeric in soup and also milk in place of thick cream is a nice twist making the soup a really healthy choice in all ways . Spinach is my fav and I love to have it any form
