Chocolate Popsicles

Month by month seems to be flying so fast! It makes me so excited to be getting in the themed back-to-back posts as well… With the summer months starting in the country I stay in, summers are slowly starting, though this time, it seems to be coming at a slow pace. Everybody seems to say that it is to make the summers terrible. Only Allah knows… A lot of the climate changes can be attributed to global warming – thanks to all the bad things that we humans have done to the earth. 🙁 Umma tells that it is terribly hot back home and the summers have started as early as February. Yikes! I had never seen Kerala summers till I got married and we travelled back home as a couple. HD was going after 8 long years – yeah, I always wondered, how he went so long without a break and I had to break that habit! 😉 As soon as we landed in the airport, we were literally sweating. He turned to me and asked, “Can we go back?” 😀 After that, I have gone a couple of times during the summer months but have carefully planned it to keep it as short as possible. Hehe… The problem with Indian summers is that it is sticky. You have to shower at least three times and still you don’t feel fresh when you retire for the day. The summers in UAE are humid – the temperatures are high and the air is thick, so you don’t feel sticky, you just keep sweating like mad. But there is always a savior in the form of ACs anywhere we go, so we just don’t get to suffer the summer much. It is a different situation with the labour class working outside though…

OK, so from the picture itself you may have guessed what the theme is going to be for this month. And it is LOLLIES! Three types of lollies that went so well with the folks at home… I prefer lollies, because it is basically portion control. You know you give them one at a time, and that’s it! 😀

Chocolate being a favorite at home, makes it easier for me to be making this. Azza always wants something cold, which I avoid as she gets infection much faster than Rasha. But still, at times I feel bad and do give them a treat once in a while. This one is a literal no-brainer, yet you get some wonderfully chocolaty popsicles, that you and the kids can pull out one each, huddle up together and watch a nice animated movie! 😉 I already have a simple chocolate ice cream recipe on the blog, in case you are interested in looking up to it. Do stay tuned for the other two that will come up in the coming days, InShaAllah… 🙂

And yeah we are having terrible weather here – probably the only consolation is that it might be better compared with Kerala. (We had a short vacation planned to home and I’m secretly happy that it got cancelled 😀 ) The popsicles will be perfect now for us, though I don’t know about portion control – I might end up having a couple 😉
