Make breadcrumbs on you own…
Another beautiful month of Ramadan is upon us. Alhamdulillah… Every day, when life feels fleeting, when we see death and illnesses in close circles, all we can do is have a heart full of shukr aka gratefulness that He decided to keep us hale and hearty for this month. I have been taking Quran tafseer classes once a week and we just finished Surah Baqarah this week. Our teacher told us that it is only in this Surah that the month of Ramadan has been mentioned and what are its rulings, ie from verse 183 to 187. The only other mention about any aspect of the month is then in Surah Al Qadr, where the mention about the special night worth 1000 months. I found that fact very intriguing. While Salaah and Zakaat have been repeated on various places of the Quran, fasting gets mentioned only once, yet we all eagerly wait for the month to arrive for our parched souls to be nourished. Clearly, Allah knows what we feel as human beings. Didn’t He say to the angels when they expressed their feeling about the creation of human beings, “Indeed I know what you do not know.” (part of verse 2:30) SubhanAllah… may Allah make us among the ones who can go through the month with as much goodness as we can… Aameen Ya Rubb…
I won’t be posting much frequently this month, because first, I have no drafts, and secondly I feel I have enough content on the blog to pull on. 🙂 So will only post around one post a week, if possibly I can, InShaAllah. Anyway, I decided to do a very basic DIY post, because breadcrumbs is one basic ingredient that gets used for a lot of snacks that is made during the month, whether it is cutlets or croquettes. I even noticed some people rolling their samosas in it to give an extra layer. If you have bread that is past its date, it is the best to use for making bread crumbs. All you need to chop them up roughly, toast them in the oven, powder them and store them in a clean, airtight container to use them. I make small batches, so I can’t confirm how long it would stay, but I am sure if we use consciously without letting it touch any moisture. Off to this easy DIY…
