Rose Lemonade

I guess I will use this post as a more of a picture intensive post, than of words. 😉 A couple of posts ago, I mentioned regarding our trip to a place called Koorachundu. This place is situated in Calicut District and was around an hour drive from HD’s place. I know it’s been two months now but I am still suffering from the hangover. 😕

When we were on vacation, we had planned to take a week to go visiting Andaman Islands, however all the schedules were turned upside down and we had to shelve that plan. Wanting to escape from the routine of having to visit relatives and eat loads of food, we finally decided to move out with the help of his brother, to a place where it would be just nature and us. From all the days we were there, the day we decided to move out, it started raining heavily. I didn’t want the plan to be cancelled, since it was only a half day plan and we decided to move on. The roads were empty, thanks to the heavy rains and the place we visited was even more deserted. But we had a fantastic time walking around under the umbrellas. These are only pictures of Koorachundu. We had also moved up to the Kakkayam dam, which is reached after going through a road similar to the Wayanad one, albeit a bit more dangerous, and the mist was not helping us at all. But once we reached up, we walked all the way, trembling in the rain and definitely didn’t miss the experience. I didn’t carry the DSLR as we had to walk almost 5 kms and who would want to lung that little machine all that distance! HD clicked a lot of pics on his mobile, unfortunately he lost it all. On the way back, we discovered we all got leech bites (ewww…) and it was quite a harrowing experience, especially for the kids. Thankfully Azza was not bitten but she cried so much seeing ours, that on the way back, she slept off due to the heaviness of her crying! 😀 The place is so green and so untouched, with hardly any rubbish, that I really wish nobody discovers this beauty any soon… But if you get a chance to move around in that area, highly suggested to go – the fresh air and the greenery is all so worth it!

I thought I would not write much, but still I did! 😀 Today is a simple recipe, really simple as this is a literal no-brainer. My kids love rose syrup and I always have a bottle in my pantry. Though they like is simple just mixed into water, or in the form of rose milk or lassi, I totally love it as a lemonade. The sweet and tangy combination is just amazing, I better not talk about how much I love the color of this drink. 😀 This drink is almost a regular during Ramadan, not during Iftar but after having our meal after Tharaweeh. On hot days, it is really refreshing too, and makes an easy welcome drink for your guests. I know the above pictures make you feel cold but then, I don’t mind drinking this even on cold days! 😀 Off to the recipe…

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 3-4 tbsp rose syrup
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Ice to serve

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a tall glass and serve immediately.

Notes

The rose syrup is already sweet, so sugar is not needed. But if you feel sweetness is less, you can add some sugar or extra rose syrup.
