Flavored Lemonade | Orange Blossom and Rose Water Lemonade

Alhamdulillah, the climate is getting slightly better. After three really hot months, September is like a whiff of fresh air. It is not that it isn’t hot, but the temperatures do drop down to a maximum of late 30s and apart from the afternoons, rest of the time is quite comfortable. I am only worried about the bout of flu and likewise it is going to come with, especially with schools slowly opening and Covid still playing hide-n-seek within us. With cases fluctuating on a daily basis whether it is here or back home, it is really worrying at times, but I guess with time, we are taught to take it into our stride and live with it with all required precautions. I think I should just keep that topic aside and move onto the intended post of the day…

This week, I am doing three back-to-back posts that involves a lemon or a lime. Both are from the citrus family but definitely have a different taste profile. I guess being Indian, we tend to have more limeades than lemonades – read the Kulukki Sarbath and the Naaranga Soda. 😉 But staying in an Arab country teaches you to like lemons along with the lime. I do buy lemons when there is an offer and make lemonade, though my girls aren’t very fond, because they say it is too sour. And yes, you would need a very sticky sugar syrup to make your lemonade taste really sweet. I just decided to pep up the regular lemonade with a dash of two beautifully flavored and aromatic waters – the orange blossom and the rose waters. Both the waters together take the lemonade to the next level. If you are not fond of either, you can skip them as well. Orange blossom has more pronounced flavors, so this lemonade tastes more of it, than the rose water, unless you decide to go ahead and add a little bit more than mentioned in the recipe. As with every lemonade, enjoy it almost immediately because it would get more sour as it sits… Off to the recipe…

Rafeeda I love lemonade and have added mint, basil, saffron, cardamom but not orange blossom and rose water. Interesting, as you’ve mixed two strong flavors. Having said that, when its really hot any flavour lemonade goes with me. I do love the flavour of orange blossom water.

This is a brilliant idea to make flavored lemonade. I have to try the orange blossom water. I have a couple of Persian recipes that uses it and I have substituted with rose water. This is a great way to enjoy the traditional lemonade with a little different flavor.
