Salted Cucumber Lassi

28. Salted Cucumber Lassi

I can literally feel my energy levels down. In so many years, I have never witnessed summers like that of this year. The temperatures look normal – 43 to 46 degrees but the humidity is sapping. There is hardly any breeze and once you are out of the house or the car, immediately you feel as though a tap is on. With my family going by this weekend, we have been out for the past three days and it has been really tiring. We are not able to keep track of how much water we have been guzzling during the day. The weather forecast says the humidity would make it “feel like 65” :O I can’t even imagine what “that” feels like! May Allah make it easy for all of us… At least I am telling myself I am going to be off from here in a little more than a couple of weeks but those who are going to spend the whole summer here… I can’t imagine! No wonder why we had late summers this time… 😕

What better than some cold lassi during this time? Lassis are not essentially sweet. I have always posted sweet lassis and have always had them sweet when I am out, but off late, I have started seeing salted lassis and that is when I thought I must give it a try, especially since I love sambaarams on hot afternoons. Very straightforward – peel up your cucumbers and blitz it up nice and cold with yogurt, water and spices and you are ready to gulp it in. You can see below that I had no patience to wait for it any moment after clicking the picture and ended up enjoying it almost immediately. 😉

  4. It is hot and burns my skin when I am out rather than sweating! Wonder why I don’t sweat here like in Calicut. The moment I enter Kerala, it is like my head is a tap with sweat oozing out and hair washing everyday is the last thing I want to do. 🙂 It is monsoon now so your going at a better time! 😛 This salted lassi is very much like out spiced buttermilk we get in coimbatore! That second picture is perfecto! 😛
