Sahlab - Egyptian Creamy Hot Drink

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • Cinnamon powder and crushed pistachios for topping

Instructions

  • Bring milk to heat in a saucepan. Combine the corn flour into the water to make a thick paste.
  • As the milk starts getting warm, add in the corn flour slurry and combine well.
  • Keep stirring occasionally till the mixture thickens.
  • Add in the sugar and rose water and cook for another minute.
  • Empty into a mug, sprinkle cinnamon powder and crushed pistachios on top. Savor hot!
