Simple Fish Fry

  • 250 gm fish I have used pomfret
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying


  • Clean the fish and pat dry.
  • Combine the powders and salt and make a paste with a few drops of water.
  • Add the fish in and toss well to coat.
  • Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and cook both sides for five minutes or till done.


At times I add 1/4 tsp of fennel powder or cumin powder, depending upon my mood.
