Add the ingredients from onion to salt in the pressure cooker. Rub the mixture well by hand, crushing the onion and tomato well.
Add the chicken and rub in the mixture well. Add 1/4 cup of water.
Pressure cook for one whistle on high and then on simmer for five minutes. Switch off and allow the pressure to go by itself.
Open the lid, sprinkle in the garam masala and add the leaves if using for garnish. Serve hot with chapathi or rice.
