Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease and flour a loaf pan well.
Mix the pears, brown sugar and cinnamon powder and set aside.
Beat butter and sugar till creamy.
Add eggs one at a time and beat after each addition.
Add the vanilla essence and beat in.
Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt well in a bowl.
Add half the dry ingredients and half the milk into the butter mixture and beat till combined.
Add the remaining flour mixture and milk and beat till the batter is done.
Pour 1/3 of the batter into the pan and spread. Sprinkle half the pear mixture on it.
Spread the next 1/3 of the batter on top of the pear mixture. Sprinkle the remaining pear mixture all over and then top with the leftover batter. Tap lightly to flatten the top.
Bake for 45 to 60 minutes till skewer inserted comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely. Slice and serve to enjoy with a cup of tea.
