Patees ~ Emirati Beef Patties

Ingredients

  • 450 gm beef mince
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic pounded
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup frozen green peas
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 large potatoes boiled
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • Breadcrumbs to coat
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a saucepan. Fry garlic briefly.
  • Add the beef mince along with the spice powders and green peas and cook till the mince is done.
  • Switch off and allow to cool.
  • Mash the potatoes and mix in the butter.
  • Add the cooked beef mixture and mix well.
  • Shape into patties, dip in eggs and roll into breadcrumbs.
  • Deep fry or shallow fry till the patties are golden brown.
  • Serve warm!

Notes

These patties can be frozen for around one month. Before frying, thaw them to room temperature and then fry.
