Heat oil in a large pan.
Add a tablespoon of kernels, close the lid and allow it to splutter.
Once spluttered, add in the remaining kernels, sugar and salt and give it a nice toss. Put the lid back.
Keep taking out the pan and shaking it to ensure all kernels get popped and are coated.
Cook till the popping sound stops.
Switch off the flame and spread the popcorn on a sheet. Allow it to cool.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
