Paal Sarbath ~ Milk Sarapsadilla Drink

I never knew what Nannari syrup was till blogging introduced me to it. Trying to find how it tasted, I landed up drinking it mixed with cold water at a relative’s house and my first reaction wasn’t encouraging. In fact, I hated it! So I decided not to give it a try on my own. I am not sure what happened all of a sudden, when I asked umma to get a bottle of the syrup when coming from home. After that, I have been gladly enjoying it on and off, when I want a change from my cold mango flavored Tang! 😉 So I feel it is more of an acquired taste. The kids don’t like them, saying it tastes weird. I don’t blame them, it was my earlier reaction as well!

Nannari syrup is usually served cold, with a part of the syrup mixed with cold water and a couple of squeezes of lime juice. The Paal Sarbath is one way that you will find it being served across the streets back home. Believe me, I have never tried it from a street vendor… D, umma nor HD approves of it! 🙁 So I had to make mine at home and enjoy it. Hehe… The watered down milk flavored with the syrup, the floating puffed up basil seeds and the scoop of ice cream to finish it off is a bliss on a very hot day! It is so relaxing and soothing that you would wish for more! So there goes the third recipe for the “Summer Coolers” 3-back-to-back series this month, after the Fruity Iced Tea and Coconut Water Chia Cooler…. 🙂

So coming to the news… I am travelling home tomorrow!!! *happy dance* First of all, can’t wait to see the girls after almost being away for 5 weeks. I am seriously wondering if they are as excited as I am! 😉 Secondly, B is getting hitched, Alhamdulillah… The nikaah is this Thursday, so you can see I am literally in a rush! Please do make du’a for the couple for their life ahead… 🙂 HD is tagging along for 10 days just because it is his brother-in-law’s function and it doesn’t look good to miss it! 😀 I hope to see some rains and some sight seeing, and maximum relaxation too, InShaAllah…

In the meantime, I have scheduled up some posts. There will be a post every Thursday and Monday. The last Saturday will see a book review followed by a week of no-activity since some updates will be happening on the blog, InShaAllah. Then will come back during the first week of September will some renewed energy – hopefully! – to get back to regular blogging… Till then do keep coming by and gracing my space, looking out for the posts I am lining up so that my blog is not sleeping. 😀 Will miss all you guys though I will keep peeping in to see what’s happening with this baby… Till then, Ma’aslaama!
