Kalakkichutta Gothambu Dosa ~ Instant Wholewheat Dosa

Today’s recipe is my replacement for chapathis on lazy nights – I must ask myself when I amn’t lazy! 😀 Umma used to make something similar for breakfast and I have already shared the recipe here. Those crepes are slightly on the sweeter side so makes it apt for morning time. These ones are mainly for savory. I am sure many of us already have some lazy flat-breads that we make when we really don’t want to stand in the kitchen and bail tens of chapathis.

The best thing about this wholewheat dosa is that it can be easily paired with just a chutney, like the Thakkali Chutney I share yesterday, or with some chicken or vegetable curry. Even better – just have it by itself! That is how I usually eat whenever I make these dosas – I have them right off the griddle, really hot. They taste delicious on their own, at least for me, someone who likes to eat warm chapathis, pooris, parathas and the like by itself without any accompaniments. Anybody like me? 🙂 Off to the recipe…

  • Heat a flat pan. Once hot spread a little oil on it.
  • Lift up the pan off the heat, pour a ladle of the batter and twirl it till the batter coats the whole pan. Fill in the spaces with little batter.
  • Keep back on the heat and cook on meduim-low flame till it starts pushing off the pan. Flip and cook for a couple of minutes. Take off.
  • Serve warm with chutney or curry of your choice - even a sprinkling of sugar or drizzle of honey is amazing for these dosas!
