Avocado Mango Smoothie

15- Mango Avocado SmoothiePin

Why do I get a feel that my blog is having a lot of fruity recipes going on? 😀 Just have a look at my home page and you will understand my feeling. No doubt, I love to work with fruits – eat them raw, chop them up, cook up with them, blitz them… And off late, I have been doing it more frequently, mainly because the last thing I want is to trash my fruits! Sometimes, I get over zealous and buy a lot of fruits, and at times they get ignored, or should I say, I forget about them and they land up in the trashbin. 🙁 I hate myself when I do that. So I try to blitz them or make use of them somehow or the other, so that I can get rid of that guilt.

I had made this smoothie way before I made the mango avocado smoothie bowl and I have been hooked to it. Both these fruits are my favorite when it comes to making a smoothie for breakfast, since it is literally like a meal in itself! Just chop them up and blitz them and what you get is such a super thick smoothie, that will keep you feeling full till lunch time. The sweetness of the mango and the creaminess of the avocado is just a perfect match. As much as I used to make this before, now I do the vegan version and I have mentioned the changes to be made in the notes in the recipe card, but believe me, it tastes good enough or much better at times!

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 large mango ripe
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 tsp milled flax optional
  • 1 tbsp honey as per sweetness
  • A dash of vanilla essence

Instructions

  • Scoop out the avocado and chop into the blender.
  • Peel the mango and chop into the blender.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and blend well till smooth.

Notes

Since avocado makes the smoothie thicker, add more water to thin it out.
To make this vegan, replace the milk and yogurt with a cup of coconut milk or almond milk and the honey with raw sugar or maple syrup.
