Some drinks remind of the “kalyaana pora” back home, or the “salkaara pora”. OK, that just means “a marriage house” and “a function house”. I had posted the cardamom milk sometime back remembering some moments. This drink is also likewise! I would always wonder what the watery green color drink that is served at functions was really made off. It would have a slight pistachio essence flavor, but there was definitely something more than just essence. Last year, during my stay in Kochi, I dragged HD out to Lulu Mall a day before we left from there, and while walking around the hypermarket, I picked up this little bottle you see at the left side. I picked up the almond flavored one too. Thank God it has eighteen month shelf life! I came back here and kept it in my fridge only to forget about it! Hehe…
During a casual browse through my old cutouts of the recipes in Vanitha magazine, I noticed the recipe of a green apple milkshake. I had a couple of green apples remaining after making the raita. Usually, Azza eats it when umma is coring one for herself, but when I buy it specifically for her, she wouldn’t even look at it. Are all kids that way? 😕 Since the day was hot enough, I got to making it. The recipe used the pista essence so it was the best time for me to finally bring it out of oblivion. Once I was done and was drinking it, it tasted exactly like the green drink served at occasions back home. The only thing missing was the floating basil seeds, which I didn’t add since I didn’t have it readily available, and my sleepy brain didn’t figure out that chia seeds could have been a good alternative! You can use any type of apple you like and after blitzing, make sure to pass it through the sieve so that you have no residues remaining. Off to the recipe…

Hahaha one thing i learn about grandmothers is try very hard to be the child’s favorite very annoying at times you say no to something and she will somehow find a way to do it for the child. I always stay away from using apple in drinks cant stand the way it changes colour this one i have to say looks pretty good.
