Naaranga Sulaimaani ~ Lime Black Tea

Pin

A sulaimaani is just that – a dreamy concoction. At any point of time, I prefer my paal chaaya, but at times I do get a bit fed up of it and get myself a small glass of sulaimaani. Normally, I make it this way with a dash of cardamom, but at times when I need a little kick, or when the meal has been too heavy, then a black tea with a nice squeeze of lime does the trick. While doing this post, I remembered this one that Sona (I wish she revives her blog for which I did a guest post sometime back…) had shared on her timeline…

I like this quote, though I have no clue how much I will stick to this. Improving ourselves is an ongoing process but I have never felt like giving it time and concentrating on it. I don’t know if it is a correct approach, but with whatever I can see and feel, I need to give time to myself. To take care of myself, and become a better feeling person… Sometimes mental happiness is just not enough, being physically healthy is a must in these days, especially when you can be prone to illness very soon. Let me see how far I can find time for making myself feel good about myself in every way…

Coming back to the sulaimani, this is one we have each time we have a heavy meal. Somehow the black tea and the lime just releases off the uneasiness any stomach can feel! I always feel this is the Malabari way of relieving your guests if you feel they are not comfortable. 😀 I specifically love this for the special shade the lime gives to the tea – it has a new orange hue… Off to the way  I make it…

Naaranga Sulaimani ~ Lime Black Tea

Course Drink
Cuisine Malabar
Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 7 minutes
Servings 2
Author Rafeeda

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp black tea leaves
  • Juice from one lime
  • Sugar to taste

Instructions

  • Bring water to boil in a saucepan.
  • As the water starts boiling, add in the tea leaves and bring it to a rolling boil.
  • Switch off as soon as the color is light brown. Add the juice of the lime and mix well.
  • Sweeten to taste and serve immediately.

Notes

Always add the tea leaves once the water is starting to boil or even after it has boiled. Adding it early will make the tea dark and make it bitter.
Add the lime juice once the boiling is done and the flame is off.
