Be My Guest – Pan Fried Fish with Spicy Potato Wedges

I love Saturdays now, seriously… 🙂 I guess you all would also appreciate my excitement. Each week, I get to meet such lovely characters, who walk into my life and make it so happening. This week, also I have one character whom I have met through the journey of blogging. We chat on and off a little and from what I have figured out, she seems to be somebody who gels with me. The way she chats is so very similar, as though I am talking to somebody just next door of my house, and yes, the talking has to be in Malayalam!!! 🙂

Today, I have with Shaahina, who blogs at Shaain’s Cooknotes. Let’s call her Shaai, as she tells in her post that she is calling me Rafee without my permission!!! 🙂 Hehe… my dear, most of them call me Rafee without my permission, mostly because I feel that my name is so long to be called as such!!! And then like many of you who call me with a lot of love… I love it when you all call me Rafee!!! She has been so sweet to write so much, really appreciate… I guess without much ado, let me welcome Shaai to do the honors of presenting her delicious looking Pan Fried Fish with Spicy Potato Wedges…

At first thank you so much Rafeeda for giving me such a beautiful space for introducing my page as well as
my simple recipe…I call her as Rafee without her permission….I don’t know what forced me to call her like that…(it may be due to the simplicity of her, so I feel that I can call her whatever I want)..We have started our friendship only
few weeks before and we are not having usual contacts even through the internet. But I like her and her blog so much..And I usually visit there and it’s worth to me. She updates her space up to date……On my first visit itself I
came to know that she is simple, down to earth person..We can feel it through her posts…yes like “ADUTHA VEETTILE PENKUTTI” – the girl next door!

Off to me!!!!
I am “Shahina “ from Shaain’s Cooknotes…Living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with my dear husband and my one and only son Appu. Whenever u have a chance to visit my space, u can realize that me n my family are a big carnivorous..And I am sad about that my space is lack of veggies as well as variety dishes….…..most of
the recipes are of fish and meat and they are naadan (from Kerala) only. The only reason is that my husband and my Appu. My part is also not less….Actually I was born and brought up in a weekly meat & fish family …….mostly
vegetables…and those we were having  from our backyard only..My mom used to say that my dad started eating meat only after their marriage… After marriage I was transferred to a completely carnivorous family. At first I was surprised about that most of the days there were no vegetables …fish curry, fish thoran and fish fry? Very interesting na???????? They love fish at any time even for breakfast also…
The passion for food started in me at the very early ages. In my school time, if there is nothing special in home, while
leaving from school, I started crying like anything…And there was a small hotel near my house. My dad bought something, usually porotta and beef dry fry (BDF) from there to suppress my roar…….When grew up, the passion of food transformed into cooking. And now  Master Appu have taken the roaring part of my childhood…If there is no fish, chicken or  egg  oh…my crying was so softer than him…And the taste checker in my home is also my little Appu (not too little…he is in 3rd..)….If he says a dish is good…it is very good and delicious.………
Normally I am not talking this much even in my blog too about me or my family….but here automatically it came…may be because the owner of this space is such a homely person… Now it’s time to reveal the recipe… It’s a pan fried whole fish and spicy potato wedges. Whenever I am having fish of any kind, it ended in a curry (Kottayam Style) or
a fry or a biryani….I think for a guest post in such a popular blog…it should be a variety…So I decided to prepare it…and Alhamdulillah my better half and the next half like it so much…and they ordered it for their lunch boxes too..
Off to the Recipe…

Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 tsp
Cumin Powder : 1 tsp
Green Chilly(chopped) : 1 tsp
Curry leaves (Chopped): 1 tsp
Coriander leaves : 1 tsp
Lemon juice : 1 lemon
Salt
Oil

Method :
Marinate the fish with all the ingredients except oil and keep in refrigerator for half n hour to one hour.
Heat a small quantity of oil in a thick bottomed pan.(if it’s an iron skillet, it would be more tasty).
Fry it till both sides have cooked well…

Spicy Potato Wedges :

Ingredients :
Potatoes : 2 (sliced into thick long pieces without peeling it, but clean the outer peel very well)
Pepper powder: 1 tsp
Garam Masala : ½ tsp
Soya Sauce : ½ tsp
Salt

Method :
Marinate the potato wedges with all the ingredients.
Heat oil in a pan and fry it well.
All I need now is a plate of rice with some moru curry to finish this off. Thank you so much Shaai for offering this sumptuous treat to us… Wishing all of you a very happy weekend… 🙂
