Event Roundup – My Legume Love Affair #103

The month of January has come to an end, so has the event of “My Legume Love Affair” #103. I would like to thank Lisa for the opportunity to host this month and to all who participated by linking into the event.   Below are some of the beautiful entries that I got linked up as a part of this event:   Chana Palak by Lisa’s Vegeterian Kitchen – nothing like this combination for a cozy winter night, right?     Including sprouts into our diet is becoming imperative due to its health benefits. Here is an interesting “Moong Sprout Dosa” shared by Padmajha.     Horsegram is an ingredient slowly coming back into Indian diets, after almost becoming extinct. Yeleena shares a delicious rasam off it.     In the south of India, there are wide varieities of desserts using lentils and Sandhya shares a drool-worthy Arisi Paruppu Payasam…

Event Announcement: My Legume Love Affair (MLLA) #103

I had hosted MLLA #92 in the month of February and had some heartwarming participation. This event made it even more special by making me win the gift voucher during the MLLA #100 at Siri’s space. So here I am again hosting this event, the first one for the year, for the month of January 2017, and it’s version #103 – that’s a long time, isn’t it! 🙂   Let’s have a quick run-up on the non-complicated rules for this event:   The event is open for the whole month of January. Any recipe where legume is the key ingredient, are welcome to be linked. A legume is normally a dried pulse, lentil or beans, and I am sure many of you are already aware of how to use them up in different formats! 🙂 Entries must be vegetarian – eggs and dairy is allowed. Only one entry per…

Event Round-up ~ My Legume Love Affair (MLLA) #92

Finally the little event that was on my blog has come to an end. It has been an utmost pleasure hosting the Version 92 of “My Legume Love Affair”, conceptualized by Susan and hosted by Lisa. Even though the number of entries were limited, what was found was some wholesome use of the loved lentils. Off to each post one by one:     Rustic White Bean Cabbage Soup by “The Taste Space” With cabbage taking on the mantle of the best vegetable for weight loss, this is such a good way of clubbing up this boring vegetable with some white bean, making it filling and protein laden.     French Lentil soup with Mushrooms, Kale and Sundried Tomatoes by “Lisa’s Kitchen” – our host! Another soup overloaded with lots of flavors, especially that of coconut milk! I must admit that it is the coconut milk that had me…

Event Announcement – My Legume Love Affair #92

It has been ages since I have hosted an event. Somehow during a time when events are not going great guns, it is heart warming to see an event like “My Legume Love Affair“, which is currently being hosted by Lisa, going into its edition #92 on this little blog of mine! The fact that the event has withstood the test of time is a testimony as to the success of the event and I am super excited to be hosting it for the whole month of February!   A few rules to look for participating in the event, though there is nothing much complicated as such! 🙂   Any recipe where legume is the key ingredient, are welcome to be linked. A legume is normally a dried pulse, lentil or beans, and I am sure many of you are already aware of how to use them up in…

Blogoversary #2… Comes with an Event and Giveaway!!!

“Your task is to start something good. To see it completed is the work of your Creator.” Abd Al-Qadir Al-Jilani (A notable mystic and a Hanbali jurist, 470-561 H)   I started this blog exactly two years back… on the lazy afternoon of January 17, 2013. From then it has been an exciting journey. For the past two years, I have Alhamdulillah been able to constantly post without breaks, despite the ups and downs of life. I have taken to food blogging as a way of unleashing my frustrations, of improving myself more and more, whether it is on a personal front or on the cooking front. This may be a food blog but more than that, it has been a reflection of my mental being and cooking has been a vital part of it. Whether I am in a good or a bad mood, I have taken to cooking…

Ahlan Ramadan ~ Event Announcement with Giveaway!

Assalamu alaikum dear friends… The blessed month of Ramadan is almost here. The month when the Quran was revealed to the Muslims as guidance… that is how important the month is. While we spend majority of our time in Ibaadah in the form of our Salaah, recitation of the Qura’an, pondering over the verses, giving Sadaqah, at the same time we give a lot of importance to our food served during the Iftar (fast breaking) and Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) to ensure that enough energy is provided to carry on during the long hours of fasting. As days pass by, the shift is towards healthy eating during the meal times, considering the hazards caused by deep fried and unhealthy foods after the fasting hours. We, Hasna, Humi and Rafeeda are proud to host a 6 week-long event on our respective blogs, looking at options for healthier cooking and feasting. Do you…

“South Indian Cooking” – Event Announcement

I am pleased to announce that for the next two months, I will be hosting the “South Indian Cooking” series, which is the brain child of Anu. I thank her for providing me with the opportunity to guest host this series! The South of India is well known for its diverse cooking styles which is dominated by vegetarian fare. However, usage of non-vegetarian in their cooking is not limited! The varieties are wide and many. The similarities are many but not limited to, the wide use of ginger, garlic, coconut, lentils, and many other ingredients, where the method of preparation is not very different, with minor changes as well. Off to the rules of the event: * Event Start Date is March 15 and ends on May 15 (a 2 month event). * Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian recipes are allowed. * ANY number of entries are most welcome. * Use of LOGO is MANDATORY, as it will help to spread the word and please link…

“Dish it Out – Breads from Scratch” – Event Roundup

This month, I had hosted the “Dish it Out” event by Vardini and the theme was “Breads from Scratch“. The hosting of this event happened all of a sudden and was happy to do it. However due to travelling and other commitments, I was unable to put full justice in conducting the event the way I would have loved to do it. My sincere thanks to my fellow bloggers who came their way and linked in their beautiful baked bread creations. The process of baking breads can only be experienced and never explained… the kneading, yeast proofing, waiting for the dough to double, punching it down, shaping it and the smell that wafts the kitchen while the fresh bread gets itself done in the oven is just unexplainable!!! Moving quickly through to the awesome entries received: 1. Mayuri’s Jikoni contributed with Tomato Cheddar Bread, Cheese Onion Bread, Spinach Cheddar Bread,…

Healthy Diet: “Soups and Salads” – Event Announcement

Second event of the month!!! I don’t think I did it purposely… but I completely forgot that I was supposed to host Priyakka’s event for this month. I am feeling totally embarassed for this, to say the least! However, Priyaakka, being a lovely soul, allowed me to go ahead with the event and here I am with the announcement! Thank you so much for allowing me to host the event for the month, dear… So that’s the theme for the month! Not that I am somebody who is inclined towards healthy food all the time, but there are times when I get the hit, I do love to prepare soups and salads, though most of the time I will have to have it alone! 🙁 I am sure many of you do make sumptuous and filling soups and salads to reciprocate for your dinner ideas. Why not link it in…
