Mushroom Spinach Frittata

Eggs are the easiest you can cook when you run out of ideas. I don’t know how many of you agree with me on that, but I would definitely say so. Unfortunately, Rasha hates eggs so I have to divert my attention to making something that everybody would eat. It is really frustrating at times, when you try to cook taking into consideration what “all” would eat. It is not easy, but sometimes you have to do make something and give them an ultimatum – you eat or you starve. I remember reading this hilarious quote somewhere: “My mother’s menu consisted of two choices: Take It or Leave It.” (Mark Twain) Umma was exactly the same. Even if we would not like what she made, we would still eat it. But today’s kids are so apart – they are not willing to take our threats of starving them. 😕…

Kaada Mutta Roast ~ Quail Egg Roast

Read this message on my Whassup and have been wanting to share and save this… Life can’t get more optimistic than this… 🙂   The word (الحزن) “sadness” does not appear in the Qur’aan except in the form of forbidding it (ولا تهنو ولاتحزنوا) or in the form of negating it (فلاخوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون). And the reason for this is because there is no benefit for having sadness in the heart. The most beloved thing to Shaitan is to make the believing slave sad by taking him off track. The Prophet (ﷺ) sought refuge in Allaah (سبحانه وتعالى) from sadness (اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن) Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله said: “Sadness weakens the heart and diminishes determination and wanting to go forward. And there is nothing more beloved to the Shaitan than the sadness of a believer.” For this reason, be happy, optimistic and think…

Malabar Mutta Roast ~ Malabar Style Egg Roast

I am at a phase where lot of things are happening, lot of things are changing and lot of things look so unpredictable, that I really do not know how my life is going to look from a couple of months from now. Events keep happening that can really pull out the carpet from under your legs, making you tumble and fall, sometimes you may end up hitting your head on the side table and feel dizzy from the effect. By the time you get back your senses, everything seems so haphazard that you don’t know what to do. Yes, those moments do call for some confusion, some panic and some break-down moments… but then once reality dawns, it is all about taking it into your stride. I strongly believe that there is no use of blaming it on what has happened, dwelling around “if that would have been the…

Naadan Mutta Curry ~ Kerala Style Egg Curry

Sometimes, blogging on a daily basis does get boring. Seriously… I was just thinking to myself, being on my break time now, should I be penning in something or no? After a lot of push and pull, there you go, I am ferociously hitting on my keyboard typing in sweet nothings. Yeah, because I have typed nothing much concrete till now apart from the above ramblings. Hehe… I guess today not being in a mood to do too much of writing, I will share with you some rare lessons that we can learn from the great man, the Father of our Nation himself… I guess I don’t need to add my inputs in there, each phrase speaks a thousand words in itself…   Off to the recipe, one of those days when I was banging my head on what to cook for dinner, I suddenly missed my umma’s egg curry….

Egg Peas Curry

A statement that I hold it on to so closely… One thing is there withme, once I am bent on to do something, I have to do it. I hate having to stop in midways and I give up only if the circumstances are so unfriendly that I am forced to leave it uncompleted. Otherwise, I love to do things with my full heart into it and do it properly, to my satisfaction. That is what exactly I am doing with this blog. I feel so good to be feeding it so frequently and that gives me a lot of satisfaction. Something that I started with a lot of “ifs” and “buts”, but by Allah’s blessings, is moving forward to be something that I really cherish and will do so for quite some time! Many of them who take cooking as a chore, may feel that blogging is a form…

Chettinad Egg Curry

I am having some serious hangover. I guess it’s because of the awesome weekend we had. We went to stay at a golf resort, and the room we got had a lovely sight of the golf course. The kids and the HD enjoyed the whole stay literally sinking in the swimming pool while I just watched them and relaxed. Thankfully, the climate was not that bad, so the whole experience was really good. After having enjoyed to the maximum, I guess I am feeling a bit low today. Quite tired and sleepy. I thought I should be feeling rejuvenated. But that is not the case!!! However the HD is totally pepped up and sinking back into his work. Hmm…. On top of that, I have to be returning back to work on Wednesday and that is making me feel even more sulky. It’s not the case of working, but…

Egg Omelette Curry

I just cannot get over my cookbook obsession. I had promised myself I wouldn’t order anymore online as I have no space to keep my current cookbooks. I’m bathing – literally – in papers of recipes and then all the cookbooks that I had promised myself that I would not get any. Yesterday, while surfing Book Depository, I found some amazing little cookbooks for Australia Weekly, which I have seen in stores over here and cost literally a bomb – yeah, cookbooks are absolutely expensive in this part of the world! You know how many I ordered, 10 of them!!! 🙁 Now I don’t know where to go and put them in. The funniest part is that these will all come to my office address and I bet I will raise a few eyebrows out here.   Sharjah witnessed the biggest book fair ever in November last year and I…
