Cantaloupe Soya Milk Smoothie

18- Cantaloupe Soya Milk SmoothiePin

I am somebody who drives a lot, in fact every weekday I undergo two and a half hours of mandatory driving as a ritual to go and come back from work. The other day, while taking a turn on a roundabout, I was reminded about my driving class escapades. On the day of my final driving test, I drove perfectly enough to impress the two policemen in the vehicle before crashing the car bumper into the pavement. One policeman took it in a light manner, laughing at it while the other one didn’t seem to like it. On the way back to the driving school, both of them kept arguing with each other in Arabic in a hushing tone. I was somehow confident I would get through despite that light crash, hehe… But once inside the office, the lady at the counter informed me that since both of them couldn’t reach to a consensus (the light fellow passed me and the other guy had failed me!), I was given another test in two days. I had a scratchy 15 minutes on that day and the presence of a huge trailer next to me while taking onto the round-about did not help my confidence levels. Sensing I was nervous and was slightly whirling the vehicle towards the trailer, the policeman adjusted my steering and that nailed it – I have failed! Surprisingly, I passed and I landed up with my license! It has been 14 years now since I have been driving. At times, I still feel nervous while taking roundabouts, just the way I felt the day I earned my license… hehe… 😀

I always have a couple of bottle of soy milk in the fridge these days. Not that I like it, in fact I hate to drink it as is. It has an after-taste that I am unable to accept. But I love it in my smoothies. Thankfully, the flavor of fruits kind of make the taste of soy milk subtle. Take in case of this cantaloupe smoothie. With quite a bit of melons available in the markets, this smoothie is quick and filling for breakfast or evening. You could even skip the sugar if the cantaloupe is sweet enough. Off to the recipe…

  2. That escapades narration is hilarious! I too failed the first attempt because I took a close right turn. Then I got lucky the second time.. but never drove often and now I have forgotten how to drive. It was confirmed when my dad asked me to drive in cbe. I sat in the drivers seat and was like which is the clutch? 😀 He pushed me out! hehehehe! Anyways Soy is not for me.. but canteloupe is.. I love to try this with just milk.. it has started to appear in the markets here..

Haha… I can’t drive a manual car, here they teach you on the automatic only, which is a bit off especially when you want to drive back home… 😉 Thank you so much Fami…

And the driving..hehe last year even I took two tests one which I took a little on the pavement and the other drove with full confidence and the police man made me take so many roundabouts but still failed me telling I didn’t look the right side mirror but after that didn’t get a chance to join. Now also I am scared of roundabouts 🙁

Even I don’t like soya milk much, just for some smoothies, I use, that’s it… 🙂 Hope you get back to your lessons and get your license too… thanks a lot Ruxana…

  5. Learning to drive a car is still a dream…
Hope Allah makes way for it…..me too don’t like soy milk. Addition of cantaloupe seems to be a good idea to subside the smell of soy milk.

  8. Rafeeda, the way cars zoom on the highways in Dubai, I don’t think I would ever be able to drive there. However, the traffic is so much more organized. Here its like driving in India, no one ever follows the rules. Reading your article reminded me of my driving test. More than the policeman I was scared of my teacher, he was just too strict.
I too am into smoothies these days for breakfast, but definitely not with soya milk. If you are allowed coconut milk, I think its a better option.
