Meatball (Kofta) Curry

I am a watcher, to say the least. I keep my eyes wide open to absorb any type of beauty I get to see – it may be a baby, a lovely dress worn by a pretty woman, that dazzling abaya, somebody’s ring, nicely presen12193484_995342140529047_2434424858514850801_nPinted food, a frothy cup of coffee, a well made cup of chai… That’s not the only thing I watch! The sun, moon, stars, trees, wind… everything related to nature amazes me. When I catch the moon in the daylight, it amuses me. The sun sinking in between the tall buildings, creating a lovely silhouette excites me irrespective of how many times I see it. Last week, I happened to see two bright stars in the early morning sky. At around 5:50 am, I had just opened the balcony door to feel the day and a glance up showed me two stars shining so bright, not withstanding the sun that was slowly starting to peek from the east. I called Rasha immediately and asked her to look up. She was equally excited, “Ummi, I think it is still night, why am I dressing up for school?” 🙂  When I watch, I make the kids watch too. As of now, they may not get the gyst of it, but as time goes, they may appreciate that little gifts that come from the Creator in this form. I guess this is something that I always pray in my heart that I don’t stop seeing those little things that give me so much of joy. Actually, it is these little things that make my life so beautiful, so worthy, Alhamdulillah… 🙂

Sharing with you a curry which is a treat! At times, we get very good minced beef at good prices and most of the time I am tempted to buy them, though I am trying to keep beef and mutton away to maximum, thanks to HD’s uric acid issues. 🙁 But whenever I cook it, he will frown first, but still take a few big pieces and enjoy the same. Somehow, it is difficult to keep the men at bay from food that they like! This is one curry that the men enjoy a lot, though the kids don’t tend to like the heavy taste of beef – they always prefer chicken at any point of time. I make this once in a while, though it is healthier considering that the meat balls are cooked in the curry rather than frying it separately and adding. To make it quicker, you can use store bought frozen meat balls, though I would always prefer making them from scratch. I already have a Malai Kofta recipe on the blog for the vegeterians. Hope to try more kofta varieties in the future. 🙂 Off to the recipe…
